Why
Controlled airspace can extend far beyond an airport boundary, while some small aerodromes have different rules. Helicopter sites and temporary restrictions are easy to miss. A flight app is a planning aid, not permission by itself.
What to do next
- 01Check the official or authority-recognised airspace source immediately before flight.
- 02Obtain any required air traffic or facility authorisation.
- 03Stay away from approach/departure paths and land for crewed aircraft.
- 04Check local takeoff and landing restrictions too.
Important exceptions
- Rules vary by country, weight and airport type.
- Emergency or temporary restrictions can appear at short notice.
- Geofencing does not prove a flight is legal.
Safety note: Aircraft behaviour varies by model, firmware and configuration. For legal or safety-critical decisions, use the current manual and official aviation authority guidance.
